This painting was born in performance. Created as part of Alexandra Abstract’s video performance — a YouTube channel dedicated to cybernetic art — Opening was painted by hand in acrylic on a monumental canvas, incorporating body print. The process is documented on video. It is a record of something that happened, once, and was captured.

The YouTube channel is dedicated to cybernetic art; however, the painting itself is created by hand using acrylics on a massive canvas and incorporates body prints, which you can see in the video.

The work is about what opens up when you stop underestimating yourself. The idea that a person is far greater than they believe. That in any moment — no matter how closed things feel — there is a crack of light. Fix your gaze on it. It will carry you further than you thought possible, and higher than you imagined.
